Brenda Garber Taylor

After getting my B.A. in Dramatic Arts from Mary Washington College , I met my husband (a graduate from Hampton Sydney) and we were married outside in a little wooden gazebo in Maymount Park in Richmond, Va. We went to Steamboat Springs, CO. for our honeymoon and feel in love with the Colorado mountains. A year and half later we decided to move whether we had a job or not. Fortunately, Bob was hired by the City of Boulder Fire Dept....we had 2 weeks notice to pick up and move!. So had a big yard sale, each drove a truck or Blazer and caravanned across country, each pulling a U Haul trailer. It was very exciting!. And we've been in Boulder ever since.

For the next 10 years we skied, hiked, camped, back packed, canoed. I became a wedding/portrait photographer for a big local photographer and in 1982 I went on my own. Almost 40 years later, I still photograph professionally and, in addition to portraits, I have started a greeting card collection. You can see what I do on my Brenda Taylor Photography Facebook page. I used to direct theatre for Boulder County middle schools (for about 14 years) and taught drama and musical theatre. I retired from that and now really enjoy focusing on my photography!

I still take several dance classes. Been tap dancing since I turned 40 (yeah that's right...you do the math!) and usually have a few smaller performances a year. I got into a women's jazz dance group called "One Big Yes Productions" (previously "40 Women Over 40"). We do a big show about every other year at Boulder's Dairy Center for the Arts -it's pretty cool. October 23, 2016 was our 40th wedding anniversary. We celebrated with a trip to San Francisco, by way of Yosemite National Park, and then drove up the coast through wine country and beyond. My favorite spot was Mendocino! I definitely want to go back and go farther north next time! Looking forward to using that lifetime National Parks pass in the future!

Bob and I will be first time grandparents to a little girl this March! Very exciting!
